How do I actually use Campfire?

Think of Each Campfire Unit Like a Chapter

Imagine two families studying biology:

One family buys the full textbook in one volume.

Another family buys all ten chapters individually.

The information is still the same.

Important:
That’s how Campfire works.  Each unit is like one (or many) fully immersive, exciting chapters. You typically choose 6–8+ units for the year.

Step 2

Decide how you want to use it.

Single Subject

Some units are designed for one subject only.

Full Curriculum

Multi-subject units include Core Connections Companions that integrate ELA, writing, history, geography, science, Bible, critical thinking, etc.

Math is the not included.

Step 3

One topic. Multiple ages covered.

Families with multiple ages can study together while each child uses the guidebook written for their level (growing = elementary, middle; advanced = beginning high school and college-prep).

The main learning stays the same. The depth changes.

Step 4

Open it and begin.

You do not need a teacher’s guide.  Absolutely everything you need is right inside the unit itself.  Follow it.  We designed it to be a blessing to homeschool parents, so no unnecessary added weight is on your shoulders.

Lessons, notebooking, assignments, projects, discussion prompts, writing, and applications are already built into the unit.

Campfire is designed to be open-and-go while still providing deep, academically rich learning.

Step 5

Documenting.

Students keep notebooks, portfolios, project records, summaries, or completed assignments for state requirements and transcripts.

High school students can reference the product page under Transcript Help for suggested credits.  You can also visit our Brochure (updated yearly) and High School Help Page for a quick overview of which units cover which topics.

Step 6 – ENJOY LEARNING!

A narrative teaching style.

Students are not just memorizing facts and forgetting. They are learning how to think, connect, explain, and apply what they know.
