Campfire Creator

Campfire Curriculums units were created by a homeschool dad (who used to adamantly be against homeschool, if you can believe it!), practicing ER provider, and U.S. special operations veteran with work in federal training.

Long story short, he ultimately came around on the homeschool idea, but over the years he saw something missing in his own home…

So, he built what he couldn’t find: curriculum designed well enough that even busy working parents could be a part of their children’s education.  He hoped for everyone to turn in toward each other and the Lord, and build on life skills and passions while also doing homeschool.

The inspiration and philosophy behind the approach actually arrived when our younger son wanted to learn how to fish (long story–you can find it below).  The name of the units was inspired by this image of a community gathered around the fire, where wisdom, knowledge, and skills were passed down, and where younger generations were guided by those before them. That’s a big reason why the curriculum is designed the way it is: like someone from the generation before you, guiding you along your journey.

We are a Christian family, and our faith shapes the values behind the work.

So, that above was the slightly boring “professional” version.  If you want the longer, more personal origin story (as well as our views on college, etc.), you can read it here. –>

(It’s optional—and much more meandering)
