CAMPFIRE STANDARDS:

Our units are taught through living book format. They are applicable to all age levels, pre-reader to adult.  If you would like to see how we adjust each level for difficulty (while allowing the whole family to come together), please visit this page HERE.

As always, this unit can be used as your core curriculum, or as an extracurricular (or fun with mom or dad!).

UNIT DESCRIPTION:

How did Jesus make it from Pilate over to Herod and back again in such a short amount of time (after all, the two lived far apart)? Why did Jesus make such an impact on the land? Why did they actually want to kill Him? Whose fault was His death? What is the significance of a sacrifice, anyway? Why does the world still hate Him? These are heavy topics and stories that all families often don’t fully comprehend or learn. Many often repeat the details year after year, but without fully grasping the meaning and true significance. We dive into all of it in this very unit. Don’t worry; we teach everything using such a gentle approach, surrounding you with a captivating, living story to weave the truths of the Bible and history into a beautiful masterpiece. It will bring to life the death and resurrection of Jesus in the richest way.

This unit carries you and your senses into the actual moment where Jesus is giving the greatest display of love the world has ever seen… in the laying down of His life for us.

Most of us have heard the story… in fact, it may be the most-told story in the history of mankind. We grew up hearing it every “Easter.”

But this unit is different. This unit takes Scripture, the real, living, and active Word of God and takes you on a journey to experience the culture of that time… You will get to experience the Roman culture, the Jewish culture… and you will never see things the same way again.

Whether you have heard His story 100 times or have never heard of Jesus at all, this unit will leave its mark on your heart.

Our activities are intentionally designed to bring your family into a closer relationship with Christ and each other. There are options for guided nature walks, temple making, “Who Do You Say I AM?” activity (don’t skip this one!), oil paintings, resurrection gardens, tasty treats, historical timelines, washing feet, cross creations, worship, Resurrection baskets, a Passover meal (including symbolism–there will also be discussion of Seder and how it’s different)…. and that’s not even the whole list!

The main lesson and one activity takes 30-minutes a day (if using as an extracurricular), or you can add Core Connections and use it for your only school work during the season (which will take longer)!

*Any storyline with Jesus or other Bible verses, disciples (etc, etc) will 100% be directly quoted from Scripture, with absolutely no creative liberties taken with His words.  The unit directs everything back to Scripture, and again, any creative writing is just in showing culture and the surrounding region, and giving personality to a character in the Bible that is otherwise not named but described (like the centurion).

DIFFERENCES FROM THE NORM:

We worked hard at it and were able to combine the Growing and Advanced guidebooks into one single guidebook for this unit!  Though not always possible, we are so excited about this!  Older or more-advanced students will reference the green font throughout the unit, where less-advanced students will skip it.  All students will share the black font.

This is also a HOLIDAY unit.  As such, the Core Connections are much simpler (but SO good).  This allows the perfect balance between busy holiday seasons and still doing school in all subjects.

CORE CONNECTIONS COMPANION:

This can be used as core curriculum (with Core Connections) or as an extracurricular (without Core Connections).

*Areas of focus – quick glimpse:*

HISTORY FOCUS: CLASSICAL ANTIQUITY, IMPERIAL ROMAN EMPIRE

LANGUAGE ARTS FOCUS: LITERARY DEVICES

SCIENCE FOCUS: NEUROSCIENCE

BIBLE/ETHICS/PHILOSOPHY/CRITICAL THINKING: ALL INCLUDED

  1. Math of infinity and eternity (can Jesus be explained mathematically?)
  2. Science of senses (do our senses lie to us or were they created by God on purpose?)
  3. Does Jesus always talk in parables and use literary devices? Learn from the best… HIM!

We dive deep into the brain and cortices, lobes, sensory input, mathematical theory, and incredible literary techniques… and it all ties right back to our faith and the story of Jesus’ sacrifice for us!

I learned so much through this unit. The living book format helps the story of Jesus come alive for all ages.

This unit was such a special unit for our family to do together. This was our first Campfire Curriculums purchase and I am so glad we started with this one. The story was very engaging and the activities were lovely. Our whole family enjoyed our time together completing this unit and growing in our understanding of what Jesus did for us when he came to earth. We especially loved finishing off the unit with a special passover seder meal. We now do a seder meal every Easter together. I look forward to doing this unit again next Easter with my children.

I just want to say a special THANK YOU for this course. As Yah is waking many of us to the truth. Our cultured is centered around paganism and its so hard finding curriculum and courses without it. I hope one day you put out a Fall Feast Unit we would love it. God bless you guys.

This is such a special unit! We did it as a whole family, including my husband. It brought us great family discussions and we enjoyed the time we got to spend with God through this unit! The kids loved building their temples! A highlight is how this unit stated the importance of knowing that Resurrection and Easter are two different things. This is so hard to find stated anywhere! Thank you for stating this beautifully in your unit! The kids enjoyed their Resurrection baskets as well. Thank you for creating a unit that is truly Jesus centered!!
