Folded Napkin (appendix)

We are not familiar with this website, nor do we know the theology behind any other posts they make.  We are only referencing this one article on the site because we happened to skim it and saw it gave the best summarized explanation for anyone who wanted a quick reference point of what the story actually is, the Biblical wording, and why many consider the story to be inaccurate.

LESSON 4 LA SYMBOLISM

-If you look from a bird’s eye view, you will see the headdress of a bride (notice the flowers and myrtle leaves are also typical of a bride’s bouquet and headdress).  Symbolism of Christ and the church/ bride to bridegroom/ Christ is alive and coming back

– The wreath is also the circle of the empty tomb opening if you look straight through, with nothing but a single pink flower inside of it (common symbol for “life”)

– Wreath for the crown of thorns (and King of kings)

– The flowing white flowers out of the wreath to represent his flowing blood which cleanses our sins and turns us white/clean; they are Baby’s Breath which also represent everlasting love/innocence/pureness (for this reason many also attach symbolism to the Holy Spirit)

– Nails and blood (for death) contrast the flowers (for new life) right next to it; this shows the stark difference of “Good Friday” to “Resurrection Sunday”

– This severe contrast also reveals the contrast between the way most Americans celebrate “Easter” (happy pink flowers and spring time bunnies) and the reality of what actually happened (nails with blood)

– Of course, Resurrection Sunday really is full of joy and happiness, so the pink flowers are also fitting

– The lamb at the bottom of the flowers represents the Sacrificial Lamb, white as snow (which represents so many other things, as well)

– Vine for Christ being the vine and us the branches
