Breakthroughs with Joy
This is an awesome curriculum!! We have used multiple others and none can hold a candle to the thorough, fun way that they teach these things…it’s been the best!!!
“I’m already seeing huge breakthroughs! … My youngest was born with a hearing loss and this has made it more difficult to pick up on all the different letter noises. We had tried a few different reading curriculums prior to yours coming out, and me finally taking the plunge to buy “another reading curriculum.” (He asked to start learning to read at 6.5, he’s now 8) I can’t express how thankful I am that you all took the time, effort, and attention to different details; learning new letters/sounds takes. Because of this he didn’t have to just depend on hearing the noise, like most reading curriculums do. He has been able to put the sounds together with what his lips, tongue, voice box, etc should be doing too. Last week he was reading some words on his own! (We aren’t even done with the phonics program yet!) In case you ever wonder if your time, effort, and uniqueness for this program was worth it; it was in every way!”
“I’ve taught several curricula during my time as a classroom teacher. When they say they ‘bring the smore together,’ they truly do…PATC was so engaging and interesting. The stories I read from this for my child to identify the letter were also so good. No fluff kind of stories. My child loved that Winnie the Pooh was the book for a lot of the lessons. I had never thought about the importance of phonemic awareness before learning to read but it makes so much sense.
We LOVE Campfire.”
How we teach:
OG + applied learning science + clinical insight + real tutoring experience
This is a research-based phonics and reading program. It’s what we like to call OG+.
No one begins teaching their kindergartener wanting tears at the kitchen table or a worry in the back of their mind, asking: Am I missing something?
Parents of littles hope for cozy celebrations and a growing love of stories.
Parents of dyslexic or older, struggling readers crave structure and confidence, hoping there is something to help when other attempts have failed.
Research-based methods like Orton-Gillingham (OG) are powerful for both. The model is proven to prevent gaps and build strong skills. That’s a huge win, and something every parent wants.
But lessons founded on OG can be repetitive or exhausting, and even with solid OG instruction, we’ve found it doesn’t always guarantee retention.
So… what if you could keep the structure but not have the overwhelm? Or, for those with struggling readers: what if you could have that “missing piece” that helps it all click?
That’s why Campfire Curriculums created the OG+ method. Click here to see our philosophy.

What’s Included
A guidebook designed to carry both you and your child.
Everything you need is built directly in: teaching scripts, charts, optional games, phonogram boxes, access to classic texts, activities, song links, and more. No flipping back and forth.
Simply open the unit and flip the page. Set a timer for about 20 minutes. When it goes off, stop. That’s your starting point next time.
Once these phonics foundations are secure, students move into Reading Around the Campfire, where they begin blending, decoding, and begin reading with confidence.

Bonus Student Extension Pack – Included for Free
For families who love crafts, games, and tactile reinforcement, the optional Student Activity Extensions Pack adds skill-based activities designed to deepen mastery. Use it for review days, extra reinforcement, Fun Fridays, or skip it entirely. You stay in control.
Also included are SYW pages (“Skip if You Want”). These are optional extras and include fun history, science, life skills, and Bible. You are free to skip these pages if you’re not interested in using them.

Why Families Choose This Over a Printed Program
Most printed phonics programs are one-time use. Once written in (or spilled on), they’re done. This program isn’t. You purchase it once and use it again and again within your immediate family. For multiple children, across multiple years, and at your own pace. Everything is built into the unit and ready to use immediately. No lost pages and no waiting for shipping.
-
- Teach from a tablet, laptop, or even on the road… and print only what you want.
- Need extra practice? Reopen it.
- A child needs review? Reuse it.
- Teaching a younger sibling next year? It’s already paid for.
Designed for families who want results without rebuying the same curriculum year after year.
Our Four Pillars
Tap each pillar to expand, if you want our full philosophy.
1) OG+
2) Joy & Movement
3) Protective Pacing
4)Classics & Connection
OG Structure + Science: We use a strong OG foundation to make sure every child can succeed with proper techniques… but we don’t stop there. We strengthen the method with strategies informed by psychologists, tutors, and speech-language pathologists.
Over the years, we’ve gathered insight from many corners—speech therapists explaining how children retain sound patterns, tutors describing what finally “sticks” after months of effort, and research on how memory and recall actually work. We studied them and put them into a parent-friendly system layered onto strong OG structure.
This means shorter lessons (no overwhelm), wins built into every week, more support than traditional OG, and additional help from other research-proven models (ontop of OG). Your child’s excitement will continue to grow as they begin to believe, “I can do this.” Earlier lessons are more scripted, with lighter scripting as you progress.
“Multisensory” often means something like this:
- flashcards (for seeing)
- hearing the sound (for auditory)
- touching the flashcards or tiles (for touch)
- moving the flashcards or tiles (for movement)
That’s not quite how we do it. The theme above is based on manipulatives, but we believe there is an even better design.
We don’t do away with the basics. We include them, and then we use different techniques to enhance them.
We care about pacing that protects children.
- Phonics around the Campfire includes a unique 10-step process built into each lesson.
- Reading around the Campfire includes Campfire’s Bracketed Mastery System™ that adapts to your child. Each bracket includes 2–4 related skills. Mastery is shown through built-in reviews. After three successful blocks, you move forward. If the skills aren’t solid, you follow a guided support path already built in.
The purpose is to strengthen core skills and prevent the boredom or shame children often face when their learning curve doesn’t match a calendar.
Partner reading and Campfire-abridged classics are built into the unit, to intentionally allow children’s classics to be part of the process.
It should feel like sitting close, taking turns, laughing together, and seeing your child light up when they make progress.
