Please keep in mind this is one of our earlier units, so it does not have the same color-coding or flow between the journals. If reading out loud as a family, you will likely want to read out loud from the youngest child’s journal only. The older journals have more advanced information that you can reference or read quietly as you go along (as it would not be good to read out loud to elementary-aged children, but it is still very necessary for the older ones!). Our newer units now follow a different flow to allow for better out-loud reading between ALL ages.

Welcome to the world of the Camping! We are so excited to join in this adventure with you. This unit is intended to bring your family together, help guide your camping experience, and it concludes with a real family camping trip we hope you will never forget!
Our two contributors for this Campfire Session have been camping for the past 20+ years across numerous countries worldwide—from the highest mountains to the lowest valleys, the coldest to the hottest climates, and everywhere in between. Both are also Special Operations veterans who have done EVERY style of camping. One has been sponsored by Eddie Bauer® and SalesForce®, and both continue to camp professionally as well as with their families when not performing work for the US government. This is the first of two camping units that will be released (where the latter is for more experienced campers–which you will be, after completing this!).
Not interested in camping? Don’t skip this unit!! It contains incredible hands-on lessons for children (and adults) that can be used in all areas of life: from knowing what to do in certain emergencies, to learning how to compromise with others, to even learning about finding medicine in trees and experiencing the science behind the properties of ice (just to name a few)! PLEASE NOTE: Some families do not have the resources or desires to go on a camping trip away from home, so we also include ways to do one from your very own home.
